The
69th Independence day was celebrated with full of cheer and
enthusiasm. The programme commenced with the prayer song followed by Tamil Thai
Vazhtu. The National Flag was hoisted by Chairman, Mount Zion Educational
Institutions. The students in horses saluted the Chairman, Dr. Jayabharathan
Chellaiah along with Director, Jonathan Jayabharathan, and Associate Director,
Mrs. Angeline Jonathan. This was followed by a display of thrilling drill
exercises by the students of VI to VIII std. Dr. Jonathan Jayabharathan,
Director, in his address made the children to realize the importance of
Independence and to be disciplined in all walks of life. The Director also said
that being the citizens of the country everybody should follow the laws of our
country and be disciplined in life. Mr. Jayabharathan Chellaiah, Chairman,
Mount Zion Educational Institutions, in his address stressed upon the students
to be active and healthy and to be a role model to the nation.
A Master minds quiz was conducted
based on “India’s Pre - Independence to Post - Independence”. The students were
asked questions covering the entire journey of India’s independence till date.
The winning teams were given the medals and the certificates. Four teams of
students from VI to VIII participated in the quiz programme. The audience who
were the upper - primary students sat nail-biting to watch the fire crackling
performance of the quizzing students. Finally, the team comprising of Jayanth
Paul of VII std, Rickey Francis of VIII std and Aneesha of VI std won the
competition. Dr. Jonathan Jayabharathan gave the medals and certificates to the
winning team in the presence of Mrs. Angelin Jonathan, Associate Director and
Dr. Jalaja Kumari, Principal, Mount Zion International School. This was
followed by cultural programmes of different clubs - The Heritage Club, The
Integrity Club, The ECO Club, and The Literary Club. The students in all their
performance gave the message of “Unity in Diversity”. A drawing competition was
also conducted for students of I to V std based on our National geography and
clean India. The celebration came to an end with the vote of thanks by Mrs.
Angeline Jonathan, Associate Director, Mount
Zion International School. The programme culminated with the National
Song “Sare - Jahan - Se - Accha” sung by everyone in the auditorium.
